Our story

A story worth
the journey

Both native to The Scouse Republic, Diana and Kev had more in common than they both realised: a love of music, travel, great wines and St Edward’s College (when it used to be good!).

We chose South Africa as our wedding venue because it’s where we got engaged, and we cannot think of a better place to say “I do” than amongst our true love: wine.

We are so happy and grateful that you are able to celebrate with us. We hope you enjoy the celebrations, and that you’re ready to help us create some amazing memories together.

The Wedding

Please join us at Zorgvliet Wine Estate for drinks at 14:30. Make your way to the chapel for the wedding ceremony at 15:00, then dinner and dancing as the sun sets over the valley.

The venue

Zorgvliet, since 1692

A wine estate in the Banghoek Valley, on the Helshoogte Pass between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Its vineyards climb the slopes of the Simonsberg, and from almost everywhere on the farm you look straight down the valley to the mountains.

Pronounced sorg-fleet. It means, roughly, no worries.

Day Two · Dress code

Black tie

Formal and elegant, but dressed for a Cape summer: warm afternoons and soft evenings.

For her

An evening gown or a beautiful formal dress, in light fabrics such as silk, crepe or chiffon. Bring a wrap for after sunset.

For him

A tuxedo or dinner jacket with a bow tie. In the February warmth, lightweight wool is perfectly correct, and jackets may come off once the dancing starts. Other than the bride, Kev’s the only one allowed to wear a cream jacket.

Getting around

Uber is reliable, inexpensive and widely available across Cape Town and Stellenbosch, and it’s the easiest way to get to and from the airport. Once you’re in Stellenbosch, transport to and from the celebration venues is provided for guests in allocated rooms. If you’d like the freedom to explore, hiring a car is another easy option: the drive through wine country and into the Banghoek Valley is beautiful, and South Africa drives on the left.

The celebrations

When and where is the wedding?

The celebrations start on Sunday 14 February, and the wedding is on Monday 15 February 2027 at Zorgvliet Wine Estate, Helshoogte Road, Stellenbosch. The ceremony and reception both take place on the estate.

Are there other events during the week?

Yes. The welcome on Sunday 14 February, the wedding on Monday 15, wine tasting and a braai on Tuesday 16, and breakfast at your accommodation before check out on Wednesday 17. For the golfers, there will also be a Cape Town golf tour on 17 and 18 February. See the celebrations.

What time should I arrive?

Drinks are served from 14:30 and the ceremony begins at 15:00, so please aim to be seated shortly before.

Can I bring a partner or spouse?

Yes, partners and spouses are very welcome.

Are children invited?

Yes, children are invited. Once you’ve RSVP’d, we’ll ask for the details of everyone joining you, including children.

When do I need to RSVP?

By 21 October, using the form below. We’ll then be in touch for the details of all your guests.

What should I wear?

Each day has its own dress code. Sunday’s welcome is cocktail. The wedding is black tie: a tuxedo or formal dinner jacket, or an evening gown or elegant formal dress (pre-tied bow ties will be collected and ceremoniously destroyed by the groom). The braai is summer chic (bring your swimwear), and for Wednesday’s breakfast, wear whatever you like. See each day.

Do you have a gift list?

Having you with us is gift enough. If you would like to give something, we’d be grateful for a donation to the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, in loving memory of Sandra. Wedding gifts.

Where will we stay?

We’ve arranged rooms for our guests at hotels close to the venues, and we’ll let you know where you’re staying. Please RSVP by 21 October so a room can be set aside for you. Accommodation.

How do I get to and from everything?

Uber is very popular and the easiest way to get to and from Cape Town airport: it’s very reliable and inexpensive. Once you arrive in Stellenbosch, transfers to and from the celebration venues are provided for guests in allocated rooms. If you’ve arranged your own accommodation, you’ll need to arrange your own transfers to the venues.

Travelling to South Africa

Which airport should I fly into?

Cape Town International (CPT). Stellenbosch is around 30 to 45 minutes away. Travel details.

Do I need a visa?

It depends on the passport you’re travelling on. Many visitors can enter South Africa visa-free for a limited stay, while others need to arrange a visa before they travel. Please check the current requirements for your nationality well before your trip.

Is there a customs declaration?

Yes. Everyone entering South Africa needs to complete a traveller declaration for customs, including declaring any cash you’re carrying. We recommend doing it online before you go.

What currency is used?

The South African Rand (ZAR). Cards and contactless payments are accepted almost everywhere, so you won’t need much cash. Do think about how much cash you carry, as it must be declared on your traveller declaration; you can check the limits via the customs link above.

What will the weather be like?

February is high summer in the Cape Winelands: warm, sunny, generally dry days that can get quite hot, with cooler evenings once the sun goes down.

What should I pack?

Light summer clothing, sun protection and comfortable shoes for exploring, plus a light layer for the evenings. Don’t forget your outfits for each day, and your swimwear for the braai.

What plugs are used?

South Africa uses 230V electricity and its own plug types, so bring a South African travel adaptor for your chargers.
